INSPIRATION : The shirt is inspired by shibui—the Japanese appreciation of understated beauty, simplicity and lasting character. Shibui objects are not empty or plain; their richness exists beneath the surface and becomes more apparent through attention and time.
This philosophy appears in the shirt’s restrained grey palette, subtle surface pattern and precisely controlled construction. Its most distinctive elements—the asymmetric neckline, curved piping and knotted closures—are intentionally tonal and measured, allowing the garment to remain quiet while carrying considerable detail.
The design also considers the Japanese relationship between structure and empty space. The placement of each fastening creates pauses across the body, while the uninterrupted cotton surface allows the garment to breathe visually.
FABRIC : Crafted from 100% cotton for breathability, comfort and natural ease against the body. The fabric has sufficient structure to support the standing collar and asymmetric construction while remaining soft enough to move naturally through the torso and sleeves.

SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION : Unlike a conventional centre-front shirt, the Shibui Shirt is built around an asymmetric opening. The construction begins at the standing collar, travels diagonally across the upper chest and continues in a curved line towards the side of the body.
Dark grey piping follows this path, defining the opening and creating a calligraphic line across the lighter cotton surface. The curved placement softens the shirt’s otherwise controlled geometry and directs the eye naturally across the garment.
The asymmetric front is secured with sculptural cord-and-knot fastenings placed at the collar, upper chest and side. These closures are both functional and decorative, giving the shirt an identity that remains distinctive without appearing excessive.

MAN HOURS / PRODUCTION TIMELINE : Each Shibui Shirt is made only after an order has been placed and requires approximately 7–8 days to create. Time is dedicated to cutting and aligning the textured cotton, constructing the asymmetric opening, applying the curved piping and forming and positioning each individual fastening.

DELIVERY TIMELINE : Once the product has been completed and shipped, delivery requires approximately 3–15 days, depending on your location and the applicable courier service. We deliver across India and internationally.
The 7–8 day production period is separate from the delivery timeline.

Expedited delivery is subject to production feasibility, courier availability and destination.
PLEASE NOTE : Due to the garment’s made-to-order construction, slight variations may occur in the hand-finished cord fastenings and the alignment of the fabric’s tonal texture. These variations are not imperfections; they are part of the individual making process.
Open and close the shirt by handling the fastenings gently. Do not pull directly on the decorative cords.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS : Professional dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the asymmetric construction, piping and sculptural fastenings. Do not bleach, soak, wring or tumble dry. Iron at a low-to-moderate temperature from the reverse side using a protective cloth, avoiding direct pressure over the cords.
Store the shirt on a padded hanger with the fastenings loosely secured to help maintain the collar and front structure.
EXCHANGE & RETURN : We offer a free exchange within 30 days of delivery in case of sizing issues or damage. We do not accept returns because every garment is created specifically after an order has been placed. When a made-to-order piece is returned or left unaccepted, it risks becoming waste—and that is something we do not wish to promote.
