Samurai Pant 7.0
The Samurai Pant 7.0 explores balance through deliberate imbalance. Crafted from premium fabric and available in Cloud Dancer, Charcoal and Beige, the pant combines the ease of an extra-wide trouser with sculptural front overlays that fall at contrasting lengths.
A clean high waist anchors the silhouette before opening into expansive, floor-length legs. From the waistband, two asymmetrical panels descend over the front: one forms a broad, shorter layer, while the other continues farther down the opposite leg. Together, they create the shifting appearance of a skirt and trouser existing within the same garment.
The construction appears restrained when standing still, yet becomes increasingly dimensional in motion. Each layer moves independently, revealing the trousers beneath and continuously changing the relationship between structure, concealment and movement.
INSPIRATION : The Samurai Pant 7.0 takes inspiration from the layered construction found within traditional Japanese clothing and the disciplined silhouettes associated with historical warrior dress.
These garments often used overlapping surfaces, controlled volume and intelligent proportions to create protection without preventing movement. Insane Shell translates that principle into a contemporary pant, replacing literal armour with panels of fabric that frame and partially conceal the body.
The unequal overlays suggest protective layers shifting across one another, while the wide trousers beneath preserve freedom and fluidity. The design does not attempt to reproduce a historical garment. It is an original Insane Shell interpretation of Japanese-inspired construction, expressed through asymmetry, restraint and architectural draping.
“7.0” represents one stage within the continuing evolution of the Samurai series—quiet in surface treatment, but complex in pattern and proportion.
FABRIC : Crafted from premium fabric selected for its smooth surface, refined handle and ability to support the garment’s layered architecture.
The material carries enough structure to preserve the clean lines of the waistband, front pleats and sculptural overlays. At the same time, it remains sufficiently fluid for the extra-wide legs to fall naturally and form soft folds around the body.
Its understated finish places attention on construction rather than ornamentation. Light moves gently across the broad panels, making their different lengths and directions visible without requiring print or embellishment.
COLOURS : The Samurai Pant 7.0 is available in Cloud Dancer, Charcoal and Beige.
Cloud Dancer is a softened off-white with a calm, luminous quality. It highlights every seam, fold and overlapping layer while preserving the garment’s minimalist expression.
Charcoal introduces greater depth and shadow. The darker tone allows the layered panels to merge and separate as the wearer moves, giving the silhouette a quieter and more dramatic presence.
Beige brings warmth to the construction. Its natural, neutral character complements the Japanese-inspired restraint of the design while allowing the architectural details to remain clearly visible.
Colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography and individual screen settings.
HIGH-WAISTED CONSTRUCTION : The pant is designed to sit high on the waist, creating a defined starting point for the volume below.
A structured waistband holds the silhouette securely and visually separates the controlled upper construction from the expansive legs. The high rise elongates the body and allows the panels to descend in uninterrupted lines from the waist.
Belt loops are integrated into the waistband, offering the option of additional styling while preserving the pant’s clean tailored finish. A discreet front closure keeps the centre construction functional without competing with the sculptural overlays.
ASYMMETRICAL LAYERED PANELS : The defining feature of the Samurai Pant 7.0 is its arrangement of unequal front panels.
One broad panel falls over the front of one leg and ends at a shorter length. The opposite panel continues farther down the body, establishing a more pronounced vertical line. Because the two sides do not mirror one another, the garment changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed.
The panels are integrated into the construction of the pant rather than appearing as detachable additions. Their placement begins at the waistband, allowing every layer to feel connected to the architecture of the garment.
When the wearer is still, the overlays create clean, uninterrupted surfaces. While walking, they separate from the trousers beneath and move at different speeds, revealing the full width of the legs in stages.
SCULPTURAL FRONT OVERLAYS : The overlays function almost like suspended architectural planes.
Their surfaces remain relatively minimal, allowing proportion and movement to become the decoration. Clean edges define each panel, while their contrasting lengths interrupt the symmetry of the trousers underneath.
The shorter layer introduces a strong horizontal break across one side of the body. The longer layer draws the eye downward along the opposite leg. Together, they create visual tension between width and length, stillness and movement.
This placement also prevents the volume of the pant from appearing uniform or shapeless. Each overlay frames a different part of the lower body and gives the silhouette a recognisable identity from the front and side.
SKIRT–TROUSER HYBRID : The Samurai Pant 7.0 moves between the visual languages of a skirt and a trouser.
Its front panels create broad, uninterrupted surfaces associated with a layered skirt, while the separate extra-wide legs beneath retain the practicality and mobility of trousers. Neither element is concealed completely; both forms remain visible within the same construction.
From certain angles, the panels appear to merge into a single draped garment. As the wearer moves, the division between the trouser legs becomes more apparent. This changing perception is central to the design.
The overlays are part of the pant and are not separate skirt pieces.
TAILORED FRONT PLEATS : Controlled pleating beneath the waistband releases additional volume into the trouser legs.
The pleats remain disciplined near the waist before opening gradually through the hips and legs. This allows the pant to achieve significant width without creating unnecessary bulk around the upper body.
Their vertical direction also balances the uneven lengths of the outer panels. Where the overlays introduce interruption and asymmetry, the pleats create order and continuity.
EXTRA-WIDE LEGS : The trousers are cut with generous width through the hips, thighs, knees and hems.
Instead of narrowing towards the ankle, each leg falls broadly towards the floor. This creates unrestricted movement and allows the fabric to form long folds while walking.
The width is essential to the skirt-trouser illusion. When the legs are placed together, their volume creates a nearly continuous surface; when they separate in motion, the trouser construction becomes visible.
Despite its scale, the silhouette remains controlled by the high waist, precise pleats and clean front overlays.
FLOOR-LENGTH DRAPING : The Samurai Pant 7.0 is designed with an elongated, floor-skimming length.
Depending on the wearer’s height and footwear, the hems may fall cleanly over the shoes, break softly at the front or create a controlled pool near the floor. This extended proportion strengthens the pant’s architectural presence and prevents the wide legs from appearing cropped or conventional.
Customers selecting custom sizing should provide their height and intended footwear height so that the final length can be adjusted more accurately.
FUNCTIONAL SIDE POCKETS : Practical side pockets are incorporated into the trouser construction.
Their openings are positioned discreetly near the hips so they remain accessible without disturbing the clean surfaces of the front panels. When not in use, the pockets sit close to the garment and preserve its minimal appearance.
ARCHITECTURAL SILHOUETTE : The visual strength of the Samurai Pant 7.0 comes from the relationship between several opposing lines.
The waistband forms a controlled horizontal boundary. The front pleats and longer overlay create vertical movement, while the shorter panel introduces an unexpected break across one leg. Beneath these layers, the extra-wide trousers expand towards the floor.
Together, these elements create a silhouette that feels measured but never static. From the front, the unequal overlays dominate the composition. From the side, the distance between each layer and the underlying trouser becomes more visible. In motion, all three surfaces separate and return around the body.
SHAPE : Designed with a high waist, structured waistband, tailored front pleats, asymmetrical overlays, extra-wide legs and a floor-length finish.
The pant remains defined at the waist before expanding into substantial volume below. The front layers frame each leg differently, ensuring that the silhouette does not appear identical on both sides.
This deliberate imbalance is an essential part of the design and should not be interpreted as irregular construction.
FIT : Fitted and structured at the high waist, with generous ease through the hips, thighs and legs.
Select your usual size for the intended balance between a secure waistband and an oversized lower silhouette. If your measurements fall between sizes, select according to your waist and hip measurements rather than the width of the legs.
Custom alterations may be requested for the waist, rise, hips, panel lengths, pleat depth, leg width and overall trouser length.
CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE-INSPIRED LUXURY : The Samurai Pant 7.0 expresses luxury through pattern cutting, proportion and restraint.
There is no need for excessive decoration because the construction itself creates the visual identity of the garment. Every element—the high waist, unequal overlays, controlled pleats and floor-length volume—contributes to the complete composition.
Its Japanese influence is communicated through disciplined layering and the relationship between structure and movement. The result is contemporary rather than historical: an original garment designed for the present while carrying the quiet strength of its inspiration.
VERSATILE STYLING : Style the Samurai Pant 7.0 with a fitted top or neatly tucked shirt to reveal the high waist and full layered construction.
For a softer, tonal composition, pair Cloud Dancer or Beige with ivory knitwear, natural cotton or a relaxed kimono-inspired layer. Charcoal may be worn with black for a darker monochromatic expression or contrasted against white and muted neutrals.
A cropped jacket allows the unequal overlays to remain completely visible, while an oversized top creates a more fluid silhouette. Minimal footwear complements the architectural drape; a slightly elevated shoe can also help control the floor-length hem.
The knitwear, shirts, footwear, jewellery and other accessories shown in the imagery are styling elements and are not included with the Samurai Pant 7.0.
PRODUCTION TIMELINE : Each Samurai Pant 7.0 requires approximately 10–15 days to create. The garment is cut and constructed only after an order has been placed.
Particular attention is given to forming the high waistband, balancing the front pleats, positioning both asymmetrical overlays, finishing their contrasting lengths and ensuring that the extra-wide trouser legs fall evenly towards the floor.
This production period does not include delivery time.
CUSTOMISATION OPTION : Conscious of our environmental responsibility, Insane Shell is a 100% made-to-order brand. Every piece ordered through our website is created specifically for you. Our standard size chart is designed to accommodate a wide range of body types.
If you require alterations to the waist, rise, hips, panel lengths, pleat depth, leg width or overall trouser length, select the CUSTOM option while placing your order. Our team will contact you for the necessary measurements and details.
For customised length, we recommend providing your height and the height of the footwear with which you intend to wear the pant.
PLEASE NOTE : The Samurai Pant 7.0 is intentionally designed with asymmetrical panels of different lengths. This difference is part of the garment’s original construction and not a manufacturing irregularity.
The pant is designed to fall close to the floor. The exact hem break and amount of pooling will vary according to the wearer’s height, proportions and footwear.
Minor differences in the fall of the panels and pleats may occur according to size, individual measurements and movement. These variations allow the garment to respond naturally to its wearer.
Cloud Dancer and Beige require careful handling. Avoid contact with makeup, ink, fresh dyes, dark surfaces and rough or wet flooring.
DELIVERY TIMELINE : Once production is complete and the pant has been dispatched, delivery takes approximately 3–15 days, depending on your destination and courier service. We deliver across India and internationally.
Customs duties, import taxes or other destination-specific charges, where applicable, are the responsibility of the customer.
EXPEDITED DELIVERY : If you require expedited shipping with an estimated transit time of 2–3 days, please contact our customer-care team with your delivery location and required date before placing your order.
We will assist you with a special request wherever production feasibility, courier availability and the destination permit. Expedited shipping refers to transit after dispatch and does not automatically reduce the 10–15-day production timeline unless confirmed by our team before the order is placed.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS : Professional dry cleaning only to preserve the fabric, structured waistband, front pleats and sculptural overlays.
Do not wash, bleach, soak, wring or tumble dry. Avoid rubbing individual marks, as this may spread the stain or alter the surface of the fabric.
If pressing is required, use low to medium heat with a protective cloth. Press the overlays and trouser legs separately, following their established directions. Do not flatten the pleats indiscriminately.
Store the pant on a clip hanger from the waistband or fold it carefully along the existing pleat lines. Ensure that the floor-length hems are clean and completely dry before storage.
EXCHANGE & RETURN : We offer a free exchange within 30 days of delivery in case of sizing issues or damage. We do not accept returns because every garment is created specifically for its wearer.
When a made-to-order piece is returned or left unaccepted, it risks becoming waste—and that is something we do not wish to promote.
