Not every victory in the Ramayana is measured by survival. Jatayu, the ageing king of vultures, rose against Ravana knowing that the strength between them was unequal. He could not prevent Sita’s abduction, but his refusal to remain still transformed defeat into sacrifice.
The Jatayu Shirt begins with that moment—wings opened not for flight, but for protection. Its sculptural collar is constructed in descending feather-shaped layers, spreading across the shoulders like a pair of wings caught at the instant before battle. Each form overlaps the next, giving the collar depth, movement and the quiet presence of armour.
Across the deep navy surface, fields of minute dots shift in density and tone, recalling the grain of an old illustration or a page weathered by time. The faded textures give the garment an archival quality, as though it has been recovered from an earlier telling of the epic rather than created in the present.
This is not a costume. It is character translated through construction. What appears ornamental carries the memory of resistance. What resembles a wing represents the courage to rise—even when one knows they may fall.
FABRIC : Textured Navy Fabric—a fluid yet structured foundation carrying an all-over field of fine dots and gradually shifting tonal textures. The surface has been designed to feel aged and archival, giving the shirt the visual depth of a vintage printed illustration.
COLLAR & DETAILS : The statement collar is shaped like a pair of wings, constructed from layered feather-inspired panels that descend over the shoulders and chest. Fine tonal detailing defines each individual feather, while dark buttons preserve the depth and restraint of the monochromatic composition.
PRINT & TEXTURE : Minute dots travel across the entire garment, changing in density towards the lower body and sleeves. This controlled fading creates a weathered halftone effect, lending the shirt its distinctive vintage character without making the surface feel distressed or unfinished.
FIT : Relaxed and straight with a slightly boxy, waist-length silhouette, long sleeves and a full buttoned front. The restrained body allows the sculptural wing collar to remain the centre of the garment. Size up for a more exaggerated, oversized fit.
MODEL : Model is 5'10" wearing Medium. Styled with wide-leg trousers.
MAN HOURS : It takes approximately 2-3 days to create the Jatayu Shirt. The wing-shaped collar requires the careful cutting, layering and placement of multiple feather-inspired forms before being assembled onto the garment. Slight variations in the positioning and fall of these layers are natural to its sculptural construction.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS : Professional dry cleaning only. Do not iron or apply direct steam over the sculptural collar. Store the shirt on a wide hanger without placing pressure over the layered feather forms so they retain their intended shape.
EXCHANGE & RETURN : We offer a free exchange within 30 days of delivery in case of sizing issues or damage. We do not accept returns because every garment is created specifically for its wearer. When a made-to-order piece is returned or left unaccepted, it risks becoming waste—and that is something we do not wish to promote.
