Long before flowers became surface decoration, they were painted as symbols. The peony, once known as the King of Flowers, appeared across paintings and ceremonial objects as an expression of abundance, dignity and quiet power.
The Black Sheer Peony Shirt takes that inherited symbol and removes its colour. Peonies are drawn by hand across transparent black mesh using textured white paint, emerging from the darkness like unfinished botanical studies. Every visible stroke retains the movement and pressure of the hand behind it, allowing the flowers to feel illustrated rather than mechanically reproduced.
The artwork continues onto a sculptural collar shaped in the form of leaves, allowing the garden to grow beyond the body of the shirt. Fine contrasting piping traces the collar, sleeve edges and buttoning area like the final outline of a drawing—giving structure to something intentionally fluid.
This is not a floral print. It is a painting made to be worn. What once represented abundance is rendered without excess. What appears delicate carries authority. What begins as a line becomes an entire landscape across the body.
FABRIC : Fine Black Sheer Mesh with Hand-Painted Artwork—a lightweight, translucent foundation covered with hand-drawn peony motifs and textured white paintwork. The transparent mesh allows the skin and layers beneath to become part of the composition, while the raised painted details give every flower depth and individuality.
COLLAR & DETAILS : The distinctive open collar is shaped by the pointed curves of a leaf. The hand-drawn floral artwork continues across its surface so the composition remains uninterrupted. Fine contrasting piping follows the collar edges, sleeve hems and button placket, framing the artwork with a clean, deliberate line.
FIT : Relaxed and straight with a slightly boxy silhouette, short sleeves and a full buttoned front. The shirt is designed to fall naturally away from the body. Size up for a more exaggerated, oversized fit.
MODEL : Model is 5'10" wearing Medium. Styled without an inner layer. The shirt can be worn directly against the skin or layered over a vest, depending on the desired level of transparency.
MAN HOURS : It takes approximately 10 days to create the Black Sheer Peony Shirt. Each peony, leaf and stem is individually drawn and textured by hand onto the mesh. Slight differences in line, texture and paint placement are not imperfections; they are evidence that every shirt is an original piece of wearable art.
CUSTOMISATION OPTION : Conscious of our environmental responsibility, Insane Shell is a 100% made-to-order brand. Every piece ordered through our website is created specifically for you. Our standard size chart is designed to accommodate a wide range of body types. If you require alterations, select the CUSTOM option while placing your order, and our team will contact you for the necessary measurements and details.
PLEASE NOTE : As the artwork is created entirely by hand, no two shirts will be exactly identical. Minor variations are inherent to the process and make every piece unique. This shirt belongs to a limited-edition collectible collection. Once it is sold out, it will never be produced or restocked again.
DELIVERY TIMELINE : Every piece is made only after an order has been placed. Your shirt will require approximately 3-15 days for production and dispatch, followed by the applicable delivery time for your location. We remain committed to a made-to-order model because we believe clothing should be created with intention—not produced in excess.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS : Professional dry cleaning only. Do not wash, steam or iron directly over the hand-painted artwork. Avoid folding the painted areas for extended periods, and keep the mesh away from jewellery, sharp objects and rough surfaces.
EXCHANGE & RETURN : We offer a free exchange within 30 days of delivery in case of sizing issues or damage. We do not accept returns because every garment is created specifically for its wearer. When a made-to-order piece is returned or left unaccepted, it risks becoming waste—and that is something we do not wish to promote.
